Unesco World Poetry Commemoration has entered its 7th year since it started in Ghana. This worldwide event is celebrated differently everywhere. In Ghana since the JUPI Team (Walk The Talk) initiated it with the help of Unesco Ghana, it has created the platform which harnesses talents and creativity to champion societal causes and to bring writers and creative activist to an optimum level where they will be abreast with current trends in the literary world. The prestigious segment of the whole commemoration is the participation of Unesco Ghana in the reading/ performance. After the message from Unesco Director concerning the said day, the representative of Unesco in Ghana reads a poem termed the “Unesco Poem of the day”. This “Unesco Poem of the Day” over the years have been captured in the following url: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Since the inception of the commemoration, it has often been read by the head of office, the representative of Unesco in Ghana. The organizers have been privileged to have had on their stage the outgone representative, Mr. Tirso Dos Santos and the current representative, Mr Abdourahamane Diallo. On few occasions, the National Programmes Organizer on Culture, Mr Carl Ampah have also represented the office.

This year, the Jupi Team opens up this contest to select the best poem for this category. This poem should touch on peace or gender or both. It should not be more than a page. Winner’s prize will be awarded on the day of event. Send poem to info@jupionline.com not latter that 7th March.
