The use of girls at home for chores in the name of preparing them. For marriage buttresses the perception that the place of the woman in marriage is to do chores. Boys grow up into men not even knowing how to support their wives at home.

When the blue turned gray
and tears dropped unending
from the floating fleece above,
darkness joined the night
in silence to hear
the noisy fall.

The room became crowded
with the cry of the broom
whose tire waist her hands held
up and down, side to side
through the corners, till the walls
and floors sparkled bright.

No complain to instructions, directions
and all which must be obeyed
by the exhausted broom without delay
and the worn out rag as well.
