The 7th and the last time that Jubilee Projection International (JUPI) spearheaded the commemoration of Unesco’s Day for Poetry was in 2020 with Walk The Talk Group in Ghana, UNESCO Ghana and other partners. The activities earmarked for the commemoration were not completed because COVID 19 broke out in Ghana and the event was called off. This time round, it will be the 8th in Ghana and the 1st in El Paso, Texas.

The prestigious moment of the commemoration is when UNESCO reads the “Poem of the Day” which is selected in a contest. 2020 was also the first time the “Poem of the day Contest” was established to promote and encourage creativity among poets. As the contest enters its second in Ghana, it will be the first in El Paso, Texas with the Walk The Talk Group at UTEP.

Poems for submission should bother on culture, climate change, and mental health. Poem should not be more than a page (500 words) and be sent to walkthetalkgroup@yahoo.co.uk or eldavid@miners.utep.edu
